The HARDI TWIN FORCE is the most proven spraying system in the world and has verifiable reliability

19 April 2012

Jamie Marra of Marra Farms in Netherby Victoria recently took delivery of their new HARDI 7000i COMMANDER TWIN Force from local Horsham HARDI dealer, Wimmera Mallee Ag in readiness for the coming cropping season. Wimmera Mallee Ags HARDI specialist, Glen Hobbs and Graham Wilkinson from HARDI were both on farm for the handover to make sure Jamie was up to speed with the operational functionality of his new COMMANDER.

“With an 8500 acre cropping program of wheat, barley, beans, peas, lentils and canola, spraying easier, faster and more efficiently is a must for us” says Jamie. “Spraying is the single most important task we have to take care of and we need to do it well”. We traded our 4000 litre 30metre COMMANDER on this our third HARDI sprayer in 15 years. We have almost 3500 litres of additional tank capacity over our old sprayer and we have opted for TWIN system so we can spray more efficiently and hopefully overcome some of the weed resistance we have experienced.

The HARDI TWIN FORCE is the most proven spraying system in the world and has verifiable reliability. The unique air-assisted provides unbeatable drift control and the highest work rate and will allow us to keep spraying when other have to stop.

A curtain of air evenly distributed from under the boom, carries the spray droplets to the target reducing drift and increasing coverage. Under optimum use the TWIN can deliver increased capacity and significant saving in plant protection chemicals.

The focus is on maximising the work rate and providing the ultimate guidance of crop protection chemical to the target. The HARDI TWIN is an excellent spraying concept, guiding the spray drops with air and avoiding drift. It has gained approval for the application of fine spray droplets in difficult weather conditions.

The air speed and delivery angle of the air curtain are controlled by the operator to suit the spraying conditions or to significantly increase the coverage and penetration into the canopy. Spray angle can be adjusted from 40˚ forward to 30˚ rearward.

Water rate can be reduced from conventional volumes with HARDI TWIN Force. This means less water cartage and less filling time. The risk of drift is minimized with active air. The spraying time in each given day can be extended in most cases because Twin Force maintains an excellent cross distribution in windy conditions.

Better coverage, penetration and a higher on target dose rate gives a better result for the chemical. Depending on the crop, significant savings on chemical costs can be realised which is a financial advantage plus an environmental benefit.

Jamie took the COMMANDER i-features because he wanted to take advantage of the AutoFill and AutoWash capability of the sprayer. With the diversity of our cropping program AutoFill gives us the opportunity to fill to the exact volume for the areas to be sprayed. The electronic tank gauge which, works on a load cell sensor and will read output on my controller exactly what’s left in the tank. The AutoWash will make it easier and faster to rinse in the field between products.

The tractor we are using is the new Massey Ferguson MF6499 215 HP Vario which will give us plenty of power, excellent fuel economy and is great to drive. Can’t wait to get spraying…
